The city was first established in 1843 as a trading fort, and has since grown to a modern city of 33,000 that has managed to retain its old-time charms. Popular with tourists, the beautiful location is easy to get to from the major cities of Vancouver, Canada and Seattle, Washington, as well as Port Angeles on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.
